About Beijing

Beijing:

About

When planning a tourist trip to China, whether you organize it on your own, or if you do it within the framework of a trip organized by a tourist agency, Beijing is a must to see place. The city of Beijing, like the rest of the country, has a rich and vibrant history. There are lots of historical places that will show you interesting memories of the past. Beijing has been the capital of up to four dynasties. The most important historical places in Beijing are Imperial College, Prince Gong Mansion, and the Walls of the Yuan Dynasty and the relics of the Yinshan Pagoda.

Places to visit:

Great Wall of China:

One of the mandatory places to see in Beijing in 3 days is the Great Wall of China. Although this does not pass through Beijing, since the nearest section is about 80 kilometers away, it is one of the usual excursions from the capital.

The Great Wall is the symbol of China and is one of wonder among the Seven Wonders of the World. Although it has a length of 8,851.8 kilometers, which cross mountains, deserts and plains, only some restored sections can be visited. Each of them is impressive, but they vary in the influx of visitors and in the state of conservation. So, if you have few days to visit Beijing, perhaps the one that suits you best is Badaling, the closest to the city, but also the most saturated. For its part, Mutianyu offers a more mountainous landscape and fewer tourists. Even so, it is a fairly tourist section, with attractions such as a cable car or a slide. Huanghua Cheng, Simatai and Jishanling are parts of the Great Wall that only enjy by travelers with more time availability. To visit this place you must have good health.

Summer Palace and Kunming Lake:

If you intend to visit Beijing during the summer months, you will quickly understand why the emperors and their court spent the hottest months in the Summer Palace, rather than in the Forbidden City. The Kunming Lake occupies a third of the extension of the complex, providing freshness to your temples, palaces and gardens. Although you could spend an entire morning or afternoon visiting it, the terrain encompasses some of the attractions that you cannot miss in Beijing such as the Marble Ship, the Great Corridor, the Seventeen Arches Bridge, the Fragrance Tower of Buddha, the Garden of Virtue and Harmony.

Temple of Heaven:

The Temple of Heaven is one of the essential places to see in Beijing and one of the most sacred corners of China. It was built during the Ming dynasty with the aim of thanking Heaven for the crops received and asking for the success of the future. The Temple of the Rogativas is the most important part, but you can also visit other buildings such as the Imperial Vault of Heaven or the Abstinence Hall.

It is a very interesting visit not only because of the beauty and history that surrounds the temple, but because it is located in a park where you will get a little closer to the daily life of the Pekingese. It will not be unusual for you to find groups doing taichi, playing cards or practicing dance classes.
